Caicedo Blues: Football Sunday Paper - Vol.2
It's been an insane past seven days in the world of football, and we football fans can definitely attest to that.
The Return of the Premier League
The English Premier League returned to our screens on the 11th of August 2023 with the reigning Champions Manchester City beginning their title defense against newly promoted Burnley.
The Cityzens won 3-0 to claim all three points at the Turf Moor with Haaland getting a brace to begin his scoring spree for the season.

Arsenal were also victorious this weekend after a 2-1 win against Nottingham Forest. Newcastle, on the other hand who are on the back of a third place finish on the league table last season, began their Premier League campaign with an emphatic 5-1 win against Unai Emery's Aston Villa. A win which keeps them at the top of the Premier League table this weekend.
A classic game at Stamford Bridge between Chelsea and Liverpool ended with both teams sharing the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Four Chelsea players made their debut for the club including defender Axel Disasi who scored in his first Premier League appearance after Luiz Diaz opened the scoring in the match.
In other top leagues, Real Madrid got off to a winning start to the new LaLiga season after a 2-0 win against Getafe in which Jude Bellingham scored a sensational debut goal. PSG played out a goalless draw against Lorient.

Caicedo Wants the Blues
Chelsea seems to have finally gotten their summer transfer target Moisés Caicedo from Brighton on what looks to be a Premier League transfer record of £115 million and the deal has been finalized according to Fabrizio.

It had been a rollercoaster of a week for Chelsea as Liverpool somehow got into the race to sign Caicedo, almost hijacking him from the Blues.
The deal collapsed as Caicedo already agreed personal terms with Chelsea weeks ago and it is only a matter of days before the Ecuadorian will be announced as a Chelsea player.
Romeo Lavia from Southampton is another Chelsea target and could also be announced alongside Moisés Caicedo in the coming days.
Mbappe x Neymar Comes to an End
Kylian Mbappe looks to be staying at PSG after all of the transfer saga in the past weeks. There has been positive talks between PSG president, Nasser Al Khelaifi and Mbappe as he's been brought back into the first team squad after missing their 0-0 draw against Lorient.
Meanwhile, Neymar seems to be making a shocking move to Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League. The Saudi side made a proposal for the Brazilian star and negotiations have been ongoing. Despite rumors of him joining Barcelona on loan, the Al Hilal move looks more likely to happen.

Kane Becomes A Bavarian
Harry Kane leaves Tottenham to Bayern Munich on a 4 year deal for €100 million. Kane spent 12 years with Spurs becoming the club's highest goal scorer and Premier League's second all time highest goal scorer with 213 goals in 320 EPL games.

Unfortunately for Kane, his first match for Bayern in which he had an opportunity to win his first trophy in his career came in a 3-0 defeat to RB Leipzig in the DFB Pokal and so the wait for his first career silverware continues.

Inter Miami X Messi Marching Strong
Inter Miami have been flying high since the arrival of Lionel Messi to the club. They've gone on a 5 game winning streak since Messi's debut, the latest of which came in a 4-0 thrashing of Charlotte FC in the quarter finals of the Leagues Cup.
Messi himself has been on an outstanding form, scoring 8 goals in 5 games.

They'll take on Philadelphia Union in the semi final which will take place on Tuesday 15th August 2023.
Ronaldo Wins His First Trophy With Al Nassr
Cristiano scored a brace in the game which helped his team to a 2-1 victory in the final after extra time in the King Fahd International Stadium. Al Nassr were crowned champions of the Arab Club Champions Cup after defeating rivals Al Hilal in the final.

An Anthony Joshua Knockout Special
Anthony Joshua knocked out Robert Helenius in the seventh round of their encounter at 02 London. Joshua's next target is Deontay Wilder - an intense fight if it does take place.
